Editing Services
Substantive- and Copy-Editing; Proofreading
Description of Services: I have fully edited over a dozen novels in a variety of genres: contemporary, supernatural, fantasy,  romance, thriller, young adult and historical. I am a fiction editor with Crooked Cat Publishing, who also works freelance at very competitive  prices. I will always offer a thorough report that includes substantive editing, offering suggestions on  structural changes, rewrites and any necessary additions. I am particularly interested in helping  writers get the openings of novels to the best standard. Getting the first three chapters right  increases the chances of successful submissions to agents and publishers. I also offer all copy-editing and proofreading services, including detailed line edits on manuscripts. What you can send to me:  FICTION: novels or short stories  NON-FICTION: books, articles, dissertations etc. I’m happy to read most subjects, but have  a special interest in literature, the arts, nature and sports  BUSINESS WRITING: reports, proposals, brochures, leaflets, promotional materials About Jeff: I have a Masters Degree (MPhil) in English, and over twenty years’ experience teaching English.  I’m also an author myself with four novels, a collection of short stories and a work of non-fiction to  name; plus a trilogy in preparation with Accent Press.  In January 2015 I completed the Society for Editors and Proofreaders’  (SfEP) Copy-Editing (1)  Training Course. Please contact me using this form.  Authors’ comments about my editing: “Thanks to Jeff Gardiner for being such a lovely editor – such a pleasure to work with.”  Shani Struthers, Jessamine “And many thanks to brave Jeff Gardiner for the bold editing.”  Nik Morton, The Prague Papers “My thanks go naturally to my editor, Jeff Gardiner, for his valuable insights.”  Gill James, The House on Schellberg Street “I’d like to thank Jeff Gardiner for his well-judged editing suggestions and his thorough scrutiny of  the text.”  T. E. Taylor, Zeus of Ithome “To Jeff Gardiner, the kindest and nicest editor in the world.”  Yvonne Marjot, The Calgary Chessman “Special thanks to my fantastic editor, Jeff: this book is so much the better for your efforts.”  Sarah Louise Smith, Izzy’s Cold Feet Links to books I have edited:
